How do you prioritize your time?

For me (since having my daughter), it’s ➡️ what NEEDS to get done in the next 3 hours while she’s napping⬅️!

Those priorities often change daily. Sometimes it’s cleaning the house, sometimes prepping for a class that I’m going to teach inside my paid programs and other times it’s self care.

I’m also a huge believer in Time Blocking.⏰ This is how it looks for me. Steal my idea and let me know how it works for you!

✔️every Sunday I make a list of what needs to get done that week (personal and professional)

✔️I pick a day and time that I think I can accomplish that task or responsibility

✔️I schedule the task in my calendar (like a client appointment)

✔️ I stay focused and try my hardest not to get distracted by anything while working on the task

✔️I give myself grace to regroup and make changes if I don’t accomplish everything I want to within that week

Are you your worst critic?

Listen, we ALL do it from time to time 😱

We compare where we’re at in our lives to our peers, our followers online and our family!🙊

BUT, if you’re like me and looking level up, try tweaking your mindset the next time you find that you are comparing your lovely life to another persons!

1️⃣ The best way to combat comparison is by keeping your blinders on. Stay in your lane and don’t compare your beginning with someone else’s end.

2️⃣ Another easy and fun way to combat comparison is by making a gratitude list. Write down what you’re grateful for in that moment of your life. Don’t worry about what others have.

3️⃣ Lastly, be clear about your goals (personal and professional), and get to them!!! The more your life is fulfilling and exciting and you’re doing what YOU want to do, the less likely you are to compare your life to someone else. There’s literally no time for it!

What adds a bit of fizz to your life?

For me, it’s early morning cuddles in the bed with my baby girl while she touches every part of my face and tells me what it is. 👀👃👄

Or, when she leans in real close, nose to nose, and stares into my eyes until she eventually starts to giggle uncontrollably. ❤️

Or, when she wakes up from a nap only to jump up and down in her crib while whipping her head all around laughing & shrieking and then calling out, “helloooo, helloooooooo!” (As if to make sure we didn’t forget about her.🤣)

It’s little, silly things like this that make my mood rise immediately, like bubbles rushing to the surface of a soda.🫧

In a perfect world, I would have time for ALL three every single morning. ☕️

But, I’ve committed to doing at least ONE act of intentional self-care every morning so that I’m a better mom, a better fiancé and a better business owner. And just overall a happier, more grounded person. 💛

I wake up and pay attention to this:

If my back is hurting, I practice yoga. ✅

If I feel I have monkey brain, I mediate. ✅

If I am lacking focus or confidence, then I journal. ✅

Here’s specifically how it looks:

📝 My journaling promps are: “I’m the type of person who _____”

This one⬆️ has been SO fun to write out and come up with bodacious goals, dreams and it pinpoints clarity on who the heck I want to be (show up as) in the world.

🙏🏻 Guided meditation has been amazing when I’m feeling overwhelmed and my dang monkey brain peeks its head. I know it’s time for meditation when I’m having difficulty making decisions and when I’m second guessing myself. Meditating bring me back to focusing from within and listening to my gut.

🧘🏻‍♀️I’ve been doing yoga for years, and over the last few months I haven’t made it a priority. My knee started bothering me, and my dear friend and acupuncturist Cherlyn recommended that I go back to practicing yoga. And it’s working! Less knee, back & hip discomfort. (Running around with a healthy/hearty/energetic toddler wears me down sometimes!🤣)

I’m taking a poll: on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest), how much are you into personal development?

I’m probably a 12-I’m always looking to adapt new strategies, specifically when it comes to my business. 💃🏻

I’ve been a professional Hairstylist for 28 years, I started my own business, Glamhairus, 14 years ago and pivoted it in 2020.

I created an online program (pre-pandemic) because I was looking to pivot my business, yet again. 😜

I was curious if other business owners struggled like I did when they started their own business. Turns out-there’s A LOT of people who were going through the same issues I once was (time management, attracting ideal clients, building a team, turning followers into customers). 😱

So, I launched my flagship program, Glamhairus Academy, in April of 2020. I was scared out of my mind that I would even make any sales and would look silly even doing it.🙊

I did it anyway and have had the honor to coach 60 beautiful souls plus many more inside my Membership programs. 🙏🏻

The reason why I get up in the morning (aside my snuggles with my sweet daughter, Olivia💕), is to shake things up in the hair industry.

I don’t want other business owners to feel alone. I sure as heck don’t want them struggling financially. And I don’t want them hitting a wall when it comes to attracting their ideal clients online. 💯

Lately, just for fun, I started working on money manifestation strategies. I wanted to see if they “worked”. I’m typically open to learning anything to see if it’s a fit for my personality and where I’m at in my life.

I’m finding creative ways to attract more income just by tweaking some old limiting beliefs around my money mindset. I’ll share more of my journey when I’m deeper into it.

It’s the truth. I just don’t have the time. Plus-it doesn’t serve me to spend my time scrolling aimlessly. 🙊

You know what I DO make a priority to do when I’m on social media? ⬇️

-engage with my ideal client
-look for posts or topics that I’m inspired by
-create content that my ideal client will find valuable
-respond to comments and private messages

*If I ever do scroll online, I’m conscious of it and I set a time limit so I don’t go down any rabbit holes. 😜

Imagine this: You want to make the most yummy, fud

Imagine this: You want to make the most yummy, fudgy dark chocolate brownies…😋 (my fav!)

You walk into the kitchen to make this delicious dessert, and there’s a problem. 😭

The problem is: You ONLY have ingredients in front of you to make spicy turkey tacos. (also my fav!)

But you REALLY have a taste for the brownies. Hmmm… what’s a girl to do?🤔

Obviously in real life we would just put away the turkey taco ingredients and pull out the fudge brownie ingredients, right?!

But in business-specifically when it comes to turning followers online into customers in your chair- we want to show up on the platforms that our ideal clients are hanging out on.

I see Hairstylists do this ALL the time! They’re posting on THEIR favorite platform (trying to get sales), but their ideal client isn’t ON that platform. 😳

I was sharing an example of a stylist who was doing EXACTLY that in this in-person class. She was posting on TikTok but her ideal client is posting & engaging & hanging out on LinkedIn.

The moral of the story is: Find out what platform your ideal client is on AFTER you figure out WHO your ideal client is. 👏🏻👏🏻

This is the 3rd Keratin Treatment we did on Jackie

This is the 3rd Keratin Treatment we did on Jackie!💃🏻

She now has a wash-and-go hairstyle since she’s been getting the treatments done. Where, before, she was blowing out her hair regularly because she didn’t like the way her natural curls looked. 👏🏻

Once she’s able to wash her hair (she’ll need to wait at least 8 hours), then she can apply very minimal styling product and let her hair air dry! Once it’s dried, she has defined, frizz free locks that I think she looks beautiful with! 💜

Fun fact: Her honey, Greg, also gets the treatment done. What I like to say is, couples that Keratin together, stay together. Haha, just kidding. 😂😜

Are you “too nice”?😱🙊

The biggest mistake I see other professional Hairstylists making (especially as a newbie), is not setting clear boundaries with their time.

Often times, it comes up as this:

“I have terrible time management skills.”

Or…

“I have no work/life balance.”

Or…

“I’m feeling burned out.”

But what’s REALLY happening is that you’re not clear with your priorities and/or your boundaries. ✅

Then -you have to rearrange your schedule constantly to accommodate everyone else, you feel depleted and you end up having no time off from work. 😳

If you’re a business owner, this should NOT be the case. After all, you’re the boss and you call the shots. 💃🏻

The best part about being Olivia’s mommy is watching her get her mind blown.😜 (inside I giggle so hard)

She wanted to touch EVERYTHING at the American Girl store. I hadn’t been there in years and I thought it would be fun to check out on a Saturday afternoon. 💗

Quite frankly, my head was spinning in the dang store too! There was dolls, doll toys, the doll’s doggies (Olivia’s FAV!), a nail and hair salon for the kids and dolls to get appointments together, a cafe, a bookstore & the biggest dollhouse you’ve ever seen PLUS -1 MILLION places to take cute pictures! 📸

To say it was a fun afternoon adventure, would be an absolute understatement. 🥰

Recently I was coaching another Hairstylist and this is what she told me⬇️

-The hours I work now are too long.

-I have way too many services I offer and I don’t like that.

-I’m afraid to raise my prices too much in fear that I’ll loose clients.

-I’ve had too many cancellations and it’s exhausting.

-I’m having a hard time reframing my mindset to new thoughts that serve me better.

-I want to be proactive with my online presence but it’s exhausting and feels like a part time job.

-I don’t have the right verbiage when it comes to talking about my business to my clients.

Question: Do you ever run out of things to say whe

Question: Do you ever run out of things to say when your clients are in your chair?✂️✂️✂️

Of course NOT! As Hairstylist, we chat it up. All. Day. Long.

So then, WHY would it be hard to “talk” online when we’re creating social media posts? 🤔

Here’s the reasons I see/hear when I’m coaching a fellow stylist:

➡️ “I’m not sure what to post.”

➡️ “I’m not sure my pictures are good enough to post.”

➡️ “I’ve gotten lazy with posting.”

➡️ “It’s too time consuming.”

➡️ “I see so many other accounts and theirs looks better than mine.”

➡️ “I don’t know what to say in my captions.”

ALL of this is perfectionism at its FINEST! Here’s some good news for you if you can relate to ANY of the above. 4-6 % of your followers will see a post you share.

For example: If you have 100 followers online, only 5 followers will see a post. That means there’s NO need for perfectionism because there’s a small chance people will actually SEE the post you share anyway! 👀

On the flip side, that’s also why we need to be as consistent with creating content that speaks to our ideal clients. The more you post, the more likely they’ll see your posts!

In addition, mix up those posts! Share things like this: before & after pictures with a client testimonial added to the caption, your fav product and how to use it on your hair, how you prepare/get organized for the day. 🎉

Once someone lands on your account and sees 15 pictures of your amazing work, they know you’re an awesome stylist! So share more of YOU so your followers FEEL something when they land on your page. 😍
