What I wish I knew 10 years ago about my hair business….
I’ve been a hairstylist for 24 years and a business owner for over a decade now.
Back when I first started, I thought that I had to work all day and all night to accomplish my goals. Now that I’m a bit more seasoned in this industry, I know that’s not the case. 🙂
If I could go back and give my past-self a BIG piece of advice that my current-self has learned, it would be to incorporate this small but mighty strategy into my business called Time Tracking!
Here’s an example of what it looks like:
- On Sunday’s… Make a list of all the tasks and errands that need to be done for the week regarding your business (emailing clients back, setting up client appointments, writing social media posts for the week, writing weekly blog, recording hair tutorials, beauty supply store run, watch educational training)
- Assign a day to the week for each task
- Assign a time in the day to the task and NO matter what only do that task (Monday from 8:00-10:00 am write social media posts for the week, 10:00-12:00 beauty supply store, 12:00-1:00 record hair tutorial, 1:00-1:30 email clients back, etc.)
Since I can’t travel through time, I’m focusing on being grateful for the lessons I’ve learned, even if I had to learn them the hard way! They’ve taught me how much time is my biggest asset when running a successful business.
