I have a question for you, friend…
Are you discounting your hair services for ANY of these reasons:
A first-time client
Only because my client’s husband lost his job.
For all my close friends and family (including my second cousin’s friend’s coworker ).
If my client gets a haircut I discount the color service.
So many hairstylists tell me they discount their services! But they’re also barely paying their rent, their body is breaking down and they haven’t had a vacation in 3 years!
Is this you?
If it is, it’s probably because you’re discounting everybody and their brother for no good reason!
Take a look at your books and see how many people you’ve given a discount to in the last month and ask yourself why.
What you could do instead: Offer wholesale for styling products to your cousin, Jessica, and charge her FULL price for her color, cut and keratin.
Or… Make sure you’re showing up online BEFORE that new client walks in your salon (you know she’s checking you out before she books!) to showcase your expertise as a stylist. This creates a higher perceived value. They see you as a valuable stylist and don’t expect a “first-time client” discount.
