Over the next few weeks I’m going to share on my blog my FAV things that keep me healthy and in shape. I get asked all the time from clients and friends, how do you stay in shape and look so young?! Which is SUCH a fabulous compliment 🙂 I can tell that I’m aging, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing, in fact it’s not a bad thing at all!
1. I walk A LOT all over the city! I make sure my little Vinnie and I go on our 90 minute doggie walks every day. Once in a while when it’s rainy or freezing outside it’s a much shorter walk, but I would say that only happens a few days of the year. He just loves it and so do I, and it’s such a great bonding experience that we get to have together.
2. I’m really into yoga. I believe it gives me strength, long lean muscles, balance and best of all it puts me in a relaxed state. The effects of yoga stay with me for days after I take a class. If you haven’t tried it or are looking for a new studio, I would definitely recommendCoconut Yoga on Lincoln in Chicago. They have many different classes and are always changing up the routine in the class, I’m pretty darn hooked there!
3. I truly believe in being open to adjusting and adapting my lifestyle as I age. In the past, I didn’t think I needed yoga or really good sleep or much balance in my life. Because my schedule is so hectic and overwhelming I realize that I DO need these things. If something doesn’t work anymore I try to accept that and adjust accordingly. I’m always open to trying new things and challenging myself so this really works well for me.
4. Sleep-I’m obsessed with getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night. It usually takes me about two minutes to fall asleep and for for the most part I’m OUT COLD when I fall asleep! Thanks to acupuncture-the treatments have helped dramatically with my sleep. Believe it or not, I used to have insomnia until I started going to acupuncture at TriBalance . Stay tuned for next weeks blog where I’m going to talk a lot more about that and explain how it’s helped me in many areas of my life 🙂
I’m really into being comfortable, as I age, with what I’m wearing. I pretty much can’t handle anything that’s not super comfortable for me, with that being said here’s the lowdown on my uber comfy outfit.
This is a top that I got from Discovery last summer but I thought it looked kind of fun and unique underneath this faux fur vest (also from Discovery). A little summer/winter combo happening. Since the top has a little bit of teal sprinkled throughout it, my F21 ripped jeans added that touch of color coordination. It was one of those days where it was a bright but overcast day so I definitely needed my sunnies, which are from Glamhairus! My booties are from Discovery and I just love the color and slouchiness of them. Lastly, my earrings were a gift from a client and my clutch is from Glamhairus and I usually only wear it in the summer months, but thought it looked great with this outfit.
If this chic pony excites you, check out my recent video that I did on how to achieve it here!
What are some things that you do to live a healthy lifestyle? Any suggestions for me? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
Thanks for stopping by!
